Vikings Summer Rugby Programs

The Vikings run one of the largest and most competitive summer youth rugby programs in the state. Last year our boys U19 team was 3rd in the state and placed 4 players on the Loggers All Star team. We are blessed to have great coaches including USA National team players this year. We are also pleased to be offering programs in partnership with Seattle RFC for kids ages 3-12. Our coaches will include Steve Brennan, Dave Miller, Pate Tuilevuka (USA National Team) and Sid Kohl.

U14, U16, U19 Boys and Girls:

-Starting Wednesday, June 13th at Magnuson Park, Field #5

-The Vikings will have A and B teams and U14 teams, that will compete in inter-squad enter tournaments and compete throughout the summer

-The girls will look for opportunites to play other girls teams and enter tournaments

- 4 to 6:00 PM until end of July/early August

-Monday track session required for A team players.

Boys and girls ages 3-12:

-Starting Wednesday, June 13th at Magnuson Park, Field #5

-Players learn introductory rugby skills in the Sevens format

-Ages 7-12, Wednesdays, 5:30 to 7 PM

-Ages 3 to 6 Wednesdays, 6 to 7 PM

Golf

Join the Seattle Vikings Rugby Club and supporters for a golf fundraiser, Thursday, July 26th.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Viking's tour fund for the spring 2013 Vikings Tour of Ireland and Wales. Support the U16 and U18 players as they represent our community, and U.S. rugby , as we continue a fine tradition of international rugby tours for a new generation.

For just $75 participants will enjoy a sunny evening with 9-holes of golf in a shotgun format. Golf will be followed by an all-inclusive dinner, as well as a social and no-host bar. Match prizes will be awarded and auction will assure that the Seattle Vikings enjoy a lifetime experience.

Announcing our end of season BBQ for all teams. The Vikings will be supplying the BBQs and space, we are asking for help for all teams and parents to bring some items potluck style. Here is some guidance for items, bring enough to serve 10 people or so and we should have plenty. This year we are taking it to the beach and we have reserved space at Golden Gardens Park.

Below are game times for this weekend. As of this time the Seattle Juniors (U-10 and U-8 match) is unconfirmed but we hope to have a match lined up very soon. The Eastside match is technically their home match so they will host, we will host the Budd Bay boys.

Vikings Tour Fundraiser: Wine Tasting on May 21st

Our Ireland/Wales tour planning is well underway and our next fundraising event will be wine tasting on Monday, May 21st in Edmonds. Five Washington wineries will be represented with all proceeds going to our tour fund.

Viking families if you are interested in going or would like to help sell tickets please see Steve or Merg Brennan or Craig Wicks at an upcoming practice or game, or e-mail us at rugby@seattlevikings.com. We distributed a number of tickets to players confirmed for the tour at practice on Wednesday. We also have a wine tasting flier if you can think of places to post or share.

This week we have two games for our boys. One vs. Liberty (U14) and another vs. Harbour (U16/U19). Both games are on Saturday.

Saturday, April 21st

Liberty vs. Seattle Vikings (U14), 10:30 AM Kickoff @ Pat Ryan Field (Player arrive at 9:45 AM)

Seattle Vikings vs. Harbour (U16/U19), 5 PM Kickoff @ Magnuson (Players arrive at 3:45 PM)

Directions to Pat Ryan Fileld (1809 S. 140th St., SeaTac, WA 98168)

From I-5 Traveling either north or south bound take the highway 518 exit (this will be the Airport exit).
Continue to the Des Monies Memorial Drive exit (just before the end of Hwy 518).
Turn right at the bottom of the exit and follow this to S 136th St.
Turn right on S 136th St. and follow past the field and tennis courts on your right.
Turn right onto 18th Ave S. Follow to the end.
The pitch is located through the chain link fence just up the hill to the left.

On Sunday, a number of our players will be trying out for the Loggers All-Star team, including Dane Halvorson, Andy Johnson, Tony Cammarano, Phillip Hartsell, Matt Brennan, Michael Doquillo and Wilson Vess. Good luck guys!

Ireland/Wales Tour Deadlines - Get Your Forms in Now

We have set a deadline this week for players, parents and coaches to let us know if they are "in" for our tour to Ireland and Wales in 2013.

To date, we have almost 20 players signed up, but we need to have your sign up form (Tour Form below) and $200 in ASAP. You can hand it to one of our coaches or Susan Michaels at an upcoming practice or game.

Boys U16/U19 vs. Eastside This Week

We have rescheduled our Eastside match for our boys next Friday, April 13th at Magnuson park. This will be Eastside's home match, so no food setup required for our guys.

On the heels of a great U14/U12 Vancouver Island tour (U14s went 3-1 and U12s were the class of their group), we have another great weekend of rugby coming up with a visiting team from Oakland, CA, Bishop O'Dowd (BOD). Practice will be on Monday and Wednesday this week, with pickup of the players from BOD on Thursday between 5 and 6 PM. Rita Mohn will be sending final details to hosting families. Directly following our boys match Eastside will be taking the field against a great team from New Zealand. If you haven't communicated availability to coaches send us a note at rugby@seattlevikings.com. Let's get a great crowd out to support us on Friday!

Photo Day Today

Today as announced earlier is team photo day and it’s supposed to be sunny at the field! So the U-14 boys get to the field at 4:00 for pictures at 4:15 in team jerseys. Then get to your warm ups. Order forms were emailed home this week and we will have some onsite. Cash, check, charge.

U16/19’s kick off at 7:15. These boys be at the field at 5:45 for team photos in their jerseys and warm ups start at right after that.

We will have another date for the U-12’s, Girls, and Jr. Team. Stay tuned.

This Saturday, we are traveling down to Lacey for games against Budd Bay for our U16 and U19 boys.

Saturday, March 17th
Kickoff for the U16s is at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for the U19s.
We will be meeting at 8:45 a.m. at the NE 65^th Street/I-5 Park and Ride to carpool down to the games.

Program Highlights

-Practice will start on Monday, March 5th through mid-May. We will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm at Magnuson Park in North Seattle, the home of Vikings rugby.
-Dedicated coaching staff including Dave Miller, longtime coach, referee and rugby parent
